Tyler, the Creator Disses Elon Musk by Altering “911 / Mr. Lonely” Lyric at Texas Concert

Tyler, the Creator might not be a fan of Elon Musk after all.

The 33-year-old rapper performed at the Austin City Limits Music Festival in Austin, Texas on Sunday for a headlining set. However, one lyric change in particular stood out while he performed “9/11/Mr. Lonely.”

In the original lyrics, per Genius, Tyler gives the 53-year-old Tesla CEO, as well as Beyoncé and Celine Dion, a shout out:

“My thirst levels are infinity and beyond

Sippin’ on that lemonade, I need a Beyoncé

Can’t see straight, these shades are Céline Dion

Sucks you can’t gas me up, shout out to Elon Musk”

On Sunday, Tyler flipped the lyric and instead rapped, “Sucks you can’t gas me up / Man, fuck Elon.”

It wasn’t always like this though. A search through Tyler’s old tweets show that the rapper once had a lot of love for Musk.

In a 2015 tweet, Tyler wrote, “ELON YOU RULE, THE THINGS I WOULD DO TO JUST SEE THIS CAR IN PERSON OH MAN.”

“I HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY AND ANY IDEAS YOU HAVE AND STUFF GO FOR THEM NO MATTER WHAT N***AS SAY SHOUT OUT ELON MUSK,” he wrote in a separate tweet a year later.

Musk responded to the above tweet merely writing, “Thanks Tyler.”

“NO THANK YOU, KEEP PUSHING AND GOING AND TRYING THINGS,” Tyler wrote back.

It’s not clear exactly what made him change his mind about Musk. But since Tyler’s public admiration for the Tesla over, Musk has made headlines for his controversial takeover of Twitter in 2022, suggesting his transgender daughter was “killed” by the “woke mind virus,” and his endorsement of former president Donald Trump in his bid for reelection.

Tyler is set to perform again for Austin City Limits’ second weekend of shows on Sunday. Perhaps there he can clarify what made him change his mind.

Musk has not responded to the call out on his X account.
