O’Shea Jackson Jr., 6lack, and More React to OG Maco’s Death

The rap world is mourning OG Maco in the wake of his passing.

Several musicians and industry professionals have taken to social media to pay their respects to the late rapper, reflecting on his rise to popularity with 2014’s “U Guessed It” and subsequent music.

Popular music executive Stevo shared a message to Maco on Instagram and X. “What you’ve done in your life in your career have been really nothing short of amazing bro,” he wrote. “You’re a legend. Nobody can take away from what you did for this game and the city of Atlanta.”

“You really cemented yourself as one of them one,” he continued. “One of the smartest men I’ve ever been around. I traveled the world with you, I think 15 or 16 different countries. It’s so crazy because all of the places we went, you always knew something — the customs, the culture, the language, to impress me.”

Malita Rice, Warner Records’ VP of A&R also posted a message about Maco and. ”I remember calling Stevo and telling him (QP) wanted to sign Maco and Maco went to the office and signed before Stevo got there,” she wrote. “Which led to OG Parker, Deko, & many more! What a time.”

OG Parker, the producer behind “U Guessed It” and one of Maco’s earliest collaborators, also shared his condolences.

Rapper Nitty Scott hopped on X and shared a link to Maco’s “U Guessed It,” captioning it with, “damn. fly high @ogmaco 💔🕊️ love you forever. you were the soundtrack to a very special season of my life – the era thanks you.”

Rapper and producer Tunji also shared his own reflection on Maco, writing in a post, “Rip Maco a catalyst for a lot of the stuff we were doing at brain bandits circa 2014-2016.”

Maco passed away last night (Dec. 26) at 32 years old after he was hospitalized on Dec. 12 for a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Sources claimed that he was in a coma at the hospital and wasn’t able to be revived after going into critical condition.
