Man Faces Charges for Killing Rapper Landlord Lo

A man has been arrested and charged for the shooting deaths of two men, including Alabama rapper Landlord Lo.

On Friday, James David Abercrombie, 27, was charged in connection with the double homicide of Roderick Hall, 38, and 27-year-old rapper D’Angelo Le’Marcus Samuel, aka Landlord Lo, AL.com reports.

The men were killed outside of a funeral reception held at the Brighton Community Center on the afternoon of Dec. 13. The funeral service was in honor of Samuel’s uncle, 62-year-old Fredrick Lee Samuel.

Both men suffered fatal head injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Abercrombie, who reportedly has a lengthy criminal history, including a separate robbery conviction, also faces charges for shooting into a building and firearm possession.

He was also charged for shooting and wounding Samuel in a separate incident in October.

Abercrombie was taken into custody on Friday and is being held without bail. A motive for the killings has not been disclosed.

Brighton Police Captain Kenneth Hooten, who knew Hall personally, described him as a “down-to-earth guy” who “didn’t bother anybody.”

“I went to elementary school with him before I became a cop or a firefighter, hung out, and we’d check in on each other from time to me,’’ Hooten told AL.com.

Under the moniker Landlord Lo, Samuel gained recognition in 2020 for “Chance,” his collaboration with Pooh Shiesty, which racked over 1.7 million views online.
