G Herbo Looking at Prison Time After Agreeing to Enter Guilty Plea in Federal Fraud Case
G Herbo has agreed to enter a guilty plea in his federal wire fraud case in Massachusetts. He and several others are accused of using stolen credit cards and IDs to make personal purchases to the tune of about $1.5 million in an ongoing scheme.
The Chicago Tribune reports the 27-year-old will “likely face a [sentence] in the two- to three-year range” due to federal guidelines. Wire fraud ordinarily carries a sentence as high as 20 years.
Herbo’s plea hearing before a U.S. district judge is “tentatively” set for July 27. He and five associates were charged back in December 2020 with using identity theft to accumulate up to $1.5M in charges for—per the Tribune—“goods and services, including private jet trips, a personal chef, a vacation at a Jamaican villa,” and a pair of “designer puppies.”
Herbo—born Herbert Wright III—is accused of lying to a federal agent back in 2018 about his ties to one of his associates, rap promoter Antonio Strong, the “alleged mastermind of the identity theft scheme.” The new plea agreement includes a series of texts between them as evidence, and states Herb will pay $140,000 worth of restitution to “a variety of alleged victims.”
