Ed Sheeran Responds to Fan Who Misheard a Key “Thinking Out Loud” Lyric

Ed Sheeran joked that a fan who misinterpreted the lyrics to one of his most popular songs should be monitored by law enforcement.

The singer responded to someone on TikTok who thought that the lyrics to “Thinking Out Loud” were saying “I will be loving you ‘til we’re 17” instead of “70.”

“You’re on a watch list somewhere,” he wrote back.

Check out a glimpse of the Sheeran’s interaction below.

Sheeran’s 10-year-old song about lifelong love has become one of his biggest ever. In the UK, “Thinking Out Loud” spent 19 weeks in the top 40 before it peaked at the number one spot in November of 2014.

The following year, “Thinking Out Loud” became the first song ever to spend an entire year in the UK top 40 and won the Grammy Awards for Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

Last month, while in the midst of his Mathematics Tour, Sheeran shared a video on Instagram that gave a glimpse at what his life would be like if he never picked up a microphone.

In the quick clip, the singer is seen sitting cross-legged on the floor while holding a video game controller. “If I wasn’t a musician, I’d be a virgin,” he admits.

The camera then pans to show what he’s playing on the giant screen of the stadium he was performing at — a high stakes battle in Pokémon Stadium.

“Pokemon Stadium in the stadium #superawesomewickedcool #wannacometomybirthdayparty #itlbefunpromise #cake,” he wrote alongside the video.
