Claressa Shields Says She’d Fight Remy Ma for $1 Amid Papoose Drama

In an interview with Jemele Hill on her Spolitics podcast, Olympic boxer Claressa Shields was asked what it would take to get in the ring with Remy Ma following their recent drama.

Near the end of the most recent episode of Spolitics, at around the 1:06:00 mark, Hill asked Shields what she called her “messy question” to end out the show. “Now you mention you don’t duck the smoke,” Hill said. “You get paid to fight, so, given the recent events… What would it take, how much money would it take, for you to jump in the ring with Remy Ma?”

Shields let out a big laugh before referring to how Remy Ma leaked her number in a post showing alleged screenshots of text messages between Shields and Papoose, to whom Remy is married. “At this point the girl leaked my number,” she said. “So at this point, you could give me a dollar and I’d put my hands on her. It don’t have nothing to do with whatever else, it’s just that part alone. That part right there. I’m a businesswoman, don’t leak my number. Why would you do that? You should’ve came to me like Shirley [Brown].”

Despite suggesting it would only take one dollar to get her in the ring with Remy Ma, she highlighted that it wouldn’t exactly be a fair fight since she’s not a boxer. “She ain’t no boxer, so I ain’t want to have to put my hands on her,” she continued. Hill asked her about how it felt to trend over her drama with Remy Ma, and she said that she would prefer if her dating life is kept private going forward.

“People like to spin narratives and we all know this woman had a boyfriend,” she said, referring to Papoose accusing his wife of cheating on him. “We all know that. This situation is so weird. … I thought it was weird and strange, but drama sells. I’m not in that beef, my smoke with her is posting my number. It ain’t got nothing to do with him. So people like, ‘Oh she wants to fight her over a dude’ … Stop it. That is so beneath me.”

Papoose and Remy Ma got into a messy exchange on social media last week when they accused each other of cheating. They both shared what they alleged were receipts of their infidelity, including a photo of Remy Ma with another man on Christmas day and texts between Papoose and Shields. Notably, Remy Ma did not censor or block out Shields phone number in the screenshots of the text messages.

Shields eventually got involved with a series of tweets. “Misery loves company baby… Smh. I’m just so happy over here,” she wrote. “I can’t believe a 45 year old woman is crashing out like this. [Clown emoji] behavior. I guess I’ll welcome all my supporters.” Shields alleged the text message screenshot was fake and then offered to fight her.
