Beyoncé Welcomes Tina Knowles Onstage to Applaud Bestselling Book: ‘Congratulations Mama T’
Beyoncé welcomed Tina Knowles to the stage on Thursday night to congratulate her on her new book, Matriarch.
A clip from the Cowboy Carter Tour stop at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles shows the Queen B bringing out her mother, where the pair stood arm-in-arm with Blue Ivy and Rumi.
“Today is a big day because my mother, who worked so hard on her book, she has the No. 1 book on The New York Times bestsellers,” the pop star said, asking the audience to tell Ms. Knowles, “Congratulations, Mama T.”
Just before praising her mother, Beyoncé sang the Cowboy Carter song, “Protector” with her daughters. The 43-year-old kicked off her Cowboy Carter Tour on Monday in LA with a three-and-a-half-hour set.
Footage from Monday shows Blue Ivy and Rumi joining Bey on stage for “Protector.” Blue Ivy sits behind her mother as Rumi walks up and hugs her. Both partake in the choreographed dances, and at one point, Rumi gets extremely excited and waves to the crowd before Blue and she walk off stage.
This isn’t the first time Blue Ivy has joined her mother’s stage performance. The 13-year-old previously joined Bey as a backup dancer for the Renaissance World Tour in 2023, and, more recently, appeared in Beyoncé’s Christmas Day NFL halftime show in 2024.
A day after opening night, Knowles took to Instagram, sharing that “Protector” was her favorite song from her daughter’s concert.
“Oh my God this moment!! The tears, the love the protection,” she wrote. “It’s one of my favorite songs on the record. Because it talks about allowing your children to grow and to shine on their own, but still being a protector.”
Matriarch debuted on April 22 and quickly moved up The Times’ bestsellers list.
Beyoncé also applauded her mother’s accomplishment on IG on Thursday, writing, “The Mama T was that good?? Ha. You deserve it, I’m so proud!”
