GORDO Is Bringing an Intimate, One-Night-Only Show to Boston
GORDO is a visionary, Grammy-nominated DJ and producer known for blending rap, trap, and Latin music with house. Formerly known as Carnage, he built an impressive resume producing for artists like Bad Bunny, Drake, Rick Ross, Migos, Lil Uzi Vert, and Lil Yachty. But by 2020, the grind caught up to him. Years of nonstop touring took a toll, and he stepped away to focus on his health and rediscover his creative purpose, retreating to Hawaii for a much-needed reset.
What came next was a full-circle moment: Diamante, GORDO’s debut album, released in 2024 to critical and commercial success.
The album is packed with collaborations, featuring names like Fuerza Regida, T-Pain, Feid, Maluma, Young Dolph, and Drake, all carefully woven into GORDO’s vision. One standout: “Healing,” the breakout hit with Drake. Its music video, which tells the real story of South African TikTok creator THE DON Madfunz dancing with his kids and later being gifted a car by GORDO, quickly went viral. It’s a heartfelt moment that captures what Diamante is all about: love, connection, and elevation.
Now, thanks to the Verizon Fios Concerts in the City Series, Boston fans will get to experience that energy in person. GORDO hits the city on September 4 for a special small-venue performance. Fans can enter for a chance to attend for free by registering at the Verizon Fios Concerts in the City website.
If you’re not in Boston, don’t worry New Yorkers can also sign up for a chance to attend Alex Warren’s September 8 Verizon Fios Concerts in the City performance, which closes out the series in NYC.
GORDO told Complex that he’s especially excited for the Boston show because it’s such a rare opportunity.
“When a venue is super intimate, everything feels amplified,” he says. “The energy, the eye contact, the reactions—it’s all immediate. I usually only experience these ‘shoebox’ shows overseas during the summer, so I’m excited to do something like this with Complex and Verizon Fios in Boston.”
These types of shows also allow GORDO to reconnect with his roots.
“They feel less like a job and more like a party with friends,” he says. “It reminds me why I started GORDO. The energy and the vibes are just different.”
And, when asked if he’ll debut new music in Boston, GORDO gave a solid “yes.”
