Wife of Weezer Bassist Charged With Attempted Murder After Standoff With Police
Jillian Lauren, wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was charged with attempted murder following a bizarre turn of events on Tuesday that ultimately landed her in the hospital with a gunshot wound.
According to TMZ, members of the LAPD and California Highway Patrol were in pursuit of a vehicle allegedly involved in a hit-and-run when three individuals exited the car and fled on foot. One of the suspects reportedly wound up on a residential street and hid in the backyard of a house.
As officers approached the location of the suspect, Lauren emerged from her residence with Shriner, with a gun in her hand. Authorities cannot confirm if she opened fire.
Officers claim Lauren was repeatedly told to drop her weapon. According to police, she not only ignored those requests, but allegedly pointed the gun at officers, who responded by striking her in the shoulder.
Lauren retreated to her house. She surrendered, alongside her babysitter, outside her home 30 minutes later.
After being transported to a nearby hospital to treat a non-life-threatening injury, Lauren was taken into custody.
One of the suspects has been arrested, while the other two have not been found.
