DJ Akademiks Says NFL Threatened to Sue Him After Allegedly Leaking Kendrick’s Halftime Set List

Following Kendrick Lamar’s eventful Halftime Show performance at the Super Bowl, DJ Akademiks took credit for leaking the alleged setlist the day before. In fact, he went so far as to say the NFL threatened to sue him over the apparent leak.

“Sorry Kendrick that I leaked ur performance,” Akademiks wrote on his Instagram Stories on Sunday. “I apologize. U did ya thing tho. … I leaked Kendrick Super Bowl performance hoping he would change it… he ain’t do it… he doubled down. I’m wat the culture was feeling… I tried to save y’all from that.”

Akademiks later hopped on Instagram Live—with the camera uncomfortably close to his face, no less—and explained how he acquired the leaked audio, which appeared to be a rehearsal of the show. “Let me tell you how got that n***a Kendrick’s fucking Super Bowl performance,” said Ak, who previously shared the leaked audio of the setlist that was later taken down. “A n***a who worked at the fucking arena’s a chat n***a.”

According to AK, the NFL threatened legal action against him.

“The NFL hit me, ‘Ak, we’re going to sue you. Well, do then,” he explained. “They sent me an email this morning. They said, ‘Don’t mention the tracklist.’ That’s coz, apparently, when we leaked it, they got paranoid. You know what I did? I went live on Rumble, shout out to Rumble, I went live on Twitter, and I leaked that bitch. I just wanna show y’all, any of y’all journalists who ever think y’all on my level… Suck a dick.”

Apart from Ak stirring the pot Kendrick’s performance hit all the marks. He trolled Drake by referring to his lawsuit against Universal Music Group. And while he didn’t say the “certified pedophile” line in “Not Like Us,” he did get the crowd to sing back, “a minor.”

Throughout the Drake and Kendrick beef, Akademiks has been firmly on Team Drizzy. On the diss song “6:16 in LA,” which exclusively dropped on Instagram, Kendrick even referenced Akademiks in the second verse.

More recently, Akademiks has been the center of controversy after he was reportedly banned from Twitch after he talked to a 15-year-old boy about his sex life and offered to send exotic dancers to his house. He later apologized for the uncomfortable moment.
