Lloyd at Usher Concert Says He Shaved Head for Aunt Battling Cancer

Lloyd made a surprising revelation at a recent Usher concert.

The R&B singer, 38, was brought out as a special guest for Usher’s Past Present Future Tour on Monday night at Miami’s Kaseya Center to perform his 2007 hit singles “You” and “Get it Shawty” while debuting a freshly shaven head.

Before leaving the stage, Lloyd asked for an opportunity to give Usher, 46, his flowers and explain why he shaved off his signature locs.

“Can I say just something real quick, please? There’s not a person in this building who either hasn’t been through something or isn’t going through something,” Lloyd said on stage, as seen in footage circulating online. “And there’s superheroes like you, big bro, that help us to get through, man.”

He shared how Usher inspired him since they first met in Atlanta when Lloyd was merely eleven years old, and that he’s learned lessons about love, fatherhood, and striving to be a better person from his former mentor since then.

“Today is the first day since I cut my hair off and it’s because my aunt is fighting cancer and I want to take that journey with her,” he added. “So thank you for allowing me to be here. Miami, thank you for showing me love and for showing him for over 30 years.”

While Usher’s tour wraps up its North American leg with one final show in Miami on Thursday, Lloyd will perform a New Year’s Eve concert in Detroit.
