Billie Eilish Fans React to Singer’s Polarizing “Birds of a Feather” Video

Billie Eilish has unleashed the official music video for her hit single “Birds of a Feather,” and it’s drawn quite the polarizing responses from fans.

On Friday, Eilish unleashed the music video directed by Aidan Zamiri, where she opened the clip hanging out in an empty office building before relinquishing control of her body to an unseen force. She then gets pulled and jerked into various directions by whatever has control of her, and that’s pretty much the whole video.

Most of Eilish’s fans were unhappy with the music video as they expected something much different and brighter that fit with the song’s tone. As they were still processing the visuals, fans rushed to social media to leave their thoughts on it.

“The [way] billie is ruining her era with these visuals like… the colors?i imagined Birds of a Feather to play in a field with flowers, animated birds,… what is this—,” one person tweeted. Another said, “This is like the worst music video I’ve seen in years At least give a good song proper justice.”

Someone else tweeted, “billie i love this song, but what is this mv i swear, the music videos ruined this era for me.hmhas still my aotythough.”

One person even went as far as reaching out to Zamiri in his Instagram DMs and asking questions regarding the video. However, Zamiri claimed he and Eilish love the visuals and understand if people can’t connect to it.

“I understand the frustration of seeing a video that you don’t necessarily feel connected to for a song you love,” Zamiri wrote in his exchange with the fan. “At least we agree that’s it’s a really beautiful song so I hope you can still enjoy the music.”

This is the second time Eilish linked up with Zamari as he handled the visuals for Charli XCX‘s “Guess,” which featured the 22-year-old. Check out more reactions to the music video for “Birds of a Feather” below.
