Snoop Dogg Says Paul McCartney Told Him Not to Put Out Blunt Upon Meeting: ‘He Knows Who I Am’

Snoop Dogg had a once-in-a-lifetime meeting with Sir Paul McCartney that made him a certified Beatles fan.

During a sit-down alongside Dr. Dre with Complex’s Jillian Superstar, the Boss Dogg brought up his chance meetup with McCartney, which happened after a performance in Hollywood. Snoop discussed the Beatles frontman around the 6:15 minute mark of the video below after talking about his hopes for the reception of his upcoming album, Missionary.

“I’ve never met him before but I’m a fuckin’ fan of the Beatles. I know Jimmy [Iovine] knows him, Dre knows him,” Snoop said. “So I’m in the back smoking and they’re like, ‘Sir Paul would like to meet you.’ So I’m like, ‘Oh, for real? Hold on.’”

Gesturing that he tried to put out his blunt out of respect for McCartney, the 82-year-old told him to continue smoking. “I put the blunt out. Cuz walks in the room like, ‘Don’t put that down.’ He give me a hug and he meets me, and it’s like, ‘Fuck. Paul McCartney knows who the fuck Snoop Dogg is.’”

But when Jillian suggested that Snoop’s just as famous, Snoop joked, “No, you’re not listening to me. Fuck who Snoop Dogg is. This is Paul McCartney, he knows who I am.”

“That’s the experience that I love is when the people you respect, respect you. And that’s only from doing quality shit,” he continued.

On the suggestion of a collaboration, Snoop said, “Yes, in a heartbeat,” naming off McCartney and Stevie Wonder collaboration “Ebony and Ivory” and McCartney and Michael Jackson’s “The Girl Is Mine.”

The concert that Snoop could be referring to is a Jimmy Buffett tribute concert that was held at the Hollywood Bowl in April, where the rapper performed a live rendition of “Gin and Juice.”
