Young Thug Says Childish Gambino's 'Last' Album Is Imminent

If you pay close attention to the background vocals on Childish Gambino's gripping single "This Is America," a familiar voice can be heard providing ad-libs; that voice is none other than Young Thug.

During a recent interview with Spotify, Thugger not only confirmed that he had a part in "This Is America" but he also confirmed what many Gambino fans aren't ready to hear: Gambino's next album will be his last.

Scrolling this photos on his Instagram, Thugger came across a photo he took with Gambino after their studio session. "Childish Gambino] got in touch with Reese LaFlare, I think they cool, friends or whatever. He told him to come to the studio]. He said he has a song for me for his last album," Thugger recalled. "I tweeted one time, ‘I bet I be on Gambino’s last album.’ I’m on his last album, it’s crazy. He’s really not making music after this. So in this picture, I was like, trying to be...I was really frustrated that he wasn’t making music no more but I was trying to be cool.”

Gambino has stated several times that his upcoming album will be his last, even though fans are still patiently waiting for a joint project from Gambino and Chance the Rapper. While accepting his Grammy awards at this year's ceremony, Gambino said, "I like endings and I think they're important to progress."

As for the long-rumored collaborative project between he and Chance, the Chi-town rapper admitted that they entertained the rumor before they ever decided to act on it. "We perpetuated that rumor for a long time without recording anything," he said during Pitchfork's "In Sight Out" panel. "We did link up in Atlanta and record some tracks and... they’re amazing."

Later in the clip, Thugger also revealed that he and Future have tattoos of each other's names and said that their friendship is "forever."
