Young Thug Granted Probation Exemptions for His Brother and Gunna

Young Thug has been ordered to have no contact with any co-defendants in the YSL RICO case, as part of the stipulations of his probation. The judge also granted Thug’s request for an exemption for two people: his brother Quantavious Grier and Gunna.

Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel, described Gunna as a “phenomenal artist,” adding that they are “contractually obligated” and “frequently perform music together.”

Gunna confirmed in an interview with Spotify’s RapCaviar earlier this month that he remains signed to Thugger’s label, YSL Records.

“I’m still signed to YSL,” he said. “I’m still providing. We still pushing. No paperwork has been changed. So it’s like, whatever’s been getting and how we’ve been pushing this shit, it’s still going.”

His latest studio album, One of Wun, was released in May through YSL and 300.

Gunna was released from jail in Dec. 2022 after accepting an Alford plea deal, which mean he pleaded guilty to a racketeering charge, but also maintained his innocence. There was suspicion that snitching played a part in the rapper’s release, but his attorney, Steve Sadow, publicly dismissed the accusations.

“Gunna did not snitch to get out of jail,” Sadow wrote in an Instagram post. “He has said nothing and is not cooperating. His plea statement cannot be used in court against any other defendant. So please stop spreading lies.”

Lil Baby once shouted “fuck the rats” when he and Gunna’s song “Drip Too Hard” started playing during a concert, leaving everyone to safely assume where he stood on the matter. However, Thug’s father, Jeffery Williams Sr., came to Gunna’s defense, saying Lil Baby “needs to shut the fuck up.”

YSL co-founder Mondo spoke out about the snitching accusations towards Gunna last month, admitting he did no such thing.

“I’m man enough to say I should’ve never spoken about the Gunna situation because technically he didn’t rat,” he wrote on Instagram Stories. “He just kinda folded under pressure & should’ve just stayed down with his mans till everything was over cause all the originals know he ain’t did nothing wasn’t even around from the beginning.”

Despite everything that has been assumed about himself and Thugger, Gunna told XXL earlier this year that he believes nothing has changed between them. “It’s the same. It’s love, always. Our relationship is our relationship,” he said.
