YG Initiates Truce Between Rival Compton Gangs, Ends Decade-Long Conflict After Peace Walk

YG led a truce walk in Compton on Sunday, August 18 to help bring an end to a ten-year rivalry between the Fruit Town Pirus and Treetop Pirus gangs.

Joined by members from both gangs, The Game and Wallie the Sensei, along with families young and old, YG led the walk to bring peace to the community. The walk kicked off at Gonzales Park with a meeting between YG and the leaders of the gangs. At one point during the journey, participants stopped by Tam’s Burgers, and they all posed for photos with the West Coast rapper.

Videos shared on YG’s Instagram Stories showed the sizeable turnout for the walk, which ended with leaders from the gangs declaring an end to the conflict.

YG hopes that the walk won’t be a temporary truce between the gangs, but the start of an ongoing effort to open dialogue between them.

The walk came just days after YG released his seventh studio album, Just Re’d Up 3. The project serves as a sequel to his 2011 and 2013 mixtapes of the same name.
