Welcome to 'Breakfast in Dystopia', the brand new EP from hip-hop producer Aver –
Instrumental hip-hop has always had its legion of die-hard fans, myself included. That classic sound is what brings us here today, with a brand new release from storied UK label Village Live Records. This label is known for putting out some of the British Isles finest rap exports. This week’s release is the dope new EP Breakfast in Dystopia from Manchester-born producer Aver.
Formerly of The National Curriculum (the UK-based hip-hop trio), Aver has been steadily releasing music for over a decade. In 2016, he moved to Berlin, and was signed to Village Live shortly after. After releasing a few different bits on the label, we’ve now been treated to a brand new EP, and it’s quite the ride. At only four tracks deep, Breakfast in Dystopia is short but sweet. The project is drum-heavy, fitting with the theme of modern doom and gloom with its dark tone. This EP is made to be played LOUD, as it’s drum-centric beats rarely let up, only occasionally being upstaged by a slick sample.
Breakfast in Dystopia is available on both vinyl and MP3 on Bandcamp, and also comes with your very own print-at-home colouring sheet. The colouring sheet is of the incredible artwork for the EP, which depicts the utter chaos that Aver brings with his new release.
