Watch Team USA Synchronized Swimmers Moonwalk Upside Down Under Water During Michael Jackson Routine
The USA Artistic Swimming Olympic Team dazzled fans during the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics by performing Michael Jackson‘s iconic moonwalk dance upside down while floating underwater.
On Monday, Team USA went viral with a technical routine paying tribute to Michael Jackson. The swimmers wore outfits inspired by the King of Pop and danced to his 1987 hit “Smooth Criminal.” During the routine, the team flipped underwater and did a few kicks before pulling off the legendary dance move with precision.
“Michael Jackson would be proud, how do you moonwalk underwater ????” one viewer wrote on X.
The move looked incredible, as fans rushed to social media to rave about what they had just seen on their screens. Nearly everyone was blown away by the upside-down, underwater moonwalk and praised the team for stealing the show on Monday night.
“TEAM USA WAS MOONWALKING UNDERWATER??” one person tweeted.
Another wrote, “Team USA moonwalked upside down, underwater . I’ll never understand how they train for this.”
Team USA finished in fourth place after performing the routine with a score of 282.7567. That score put the team two points behind Japan and five behind Spain. China leads the way in first place by an astonishing 21 points.
Team USA will have a chance at gold when they compete in the free routine performance on Tuesday. Following that will be the artistic routine final, which will take place on Wednesday.
