For Flavor Flav‘s latest side quest, he joined Yo Gabba Gabba at Coachella to perform a loving ode to bugs.
The iconic Public Enemy hype man took his talents to assist the wonderful and colorful children’s media icons to rap about bugs. After getting the crowd going with a call-and-response, he passed the mic for the cast to spit some bars.
Yo Gabba Gabba might’ve been the performance to catch at Coachella, as they were joined by multiple special guests including Weird Al, Thundercat and Portugal. the Man.
Now how did a children’s musical act get a prime Coachella slot? The creators behind Yo Gabba Gabba!, Christian Jacobs and Scott Schultz, told TMZ that the characters walking around the festival grounds last year got such a positive response, Coachella organizers asked for them to do a full set — their first solo set since 2010.
The popular children’s show was known for having a wide array of special guests to perform, enlisting notable rock, punk and indie bands to sing educational songs. Biz Markie was a frequent guest with his segment “Biz’s Beat of the Day,” and familiar faces such as The Roots, Mos Def, Mya and more joined in on the fun.
The show’s latest iteration, Yo Gabba Gabbaland!, also features some familiar names including Anderson .Paak and Big Daddy Kane.
