Waka Flocka Flame Performs at Pokémon Convention
Gotta Flock Em’ All!
Waka Flocka popped up at a Pokémon Trading Card Convention recently for an impromptu performance in a setting where most people thought they’d never see him.
In a video captured by a lucky Redditor, the rapper hit the stage for a high-energy performance of “Grove St. Party” to an audience of powerful Pokemon trainers.
Check out a clip from Waka’s performance below.
Waka has previously made it known how big of a Pokémon fan he is. In a Reddit AMA from 2016, he was asked about his trainer level, and he gave a deep response that resonates with any true Pokémon lover.
“A real Pokémon trainer would never look at his level as a benchmark of accomplishments,” he said. “A real trainer just wants to have the best Pokémon in the world so that one day he may have the chance of becoming a real Pokémon master.”
That same year, during the Pokémon Go craze, Waka Flocka was spotted out in Atlanta at a PokémonGo gym by another Redditor. According to the user, Waka told him, ‘I made my first $1,000 selling Pokémon cards.
The rapper also posted on X (back then known as Twitter) in support of the game.
“PokémonGo got me feeling like I’m back in middle school,” Waka wrote, adding on the hashtag #BigKidModeInFullEffect.
Most recently though, Waka made headlines last year when he wasn’t upset that Latto used his lyrics in the song “Issa Party” with Baby Drill.
Responding to an X user who wrote, “If I’m Waka Flocka my lawsuit was filed yesterday,” he wrote, “Flattery at this highest….never understood why rob these youngsters for showing us respect plus Lotto from Clayton County.”
