Tyler, the Creator Celebrates ASAP Rocky Acquittal, Calls Accuser a ‘Jealous Bum’
Tyler, the Creator says he “almost passed out” from joy at the news of ASAP Rocky‘s gun assault trial acquittal.
During a stop this week on Tyler’s Chromakopia world tour, the two-time Grammy winner took a moment to celebrate his “brother,” with whom he previously toured and collaborated on songs like “Who Dat Boy” and “Wharf Talk.”
In the clip below, Tyler announced Rocky’s acquittal before the crowd began chanting Rocky’s name.
“That’s a testament to watching who y’all keep around you, ’cause people be jealous, bum-ass, loser-ass, bitch-ass n***as that wanna take you down,” Tyler said. “I’m so grateful for my motherfucking brothers, I done had the same friends for almost 20 years. I love y’all n***as so goddamn much.”
He continued, “I know I’ve [said] it on 80 songs, but when I tell n***as don’t call me ‘brother,’ don’t call me ‘twin,’ don’t call me ‘king’ … I’m not friends with these n***as ’cause they weird and they wanna see you fucking down. So shoutout to my motherfucking brothers that’s here, I love y’all to death, on God. And shoutout Rocky, my n***a free. Yessir.”
Tyler joins other big names who supported Rocky’s acquittal, including Spike Lee, 50 Cent, and the Harlem rapper’s longtime partner, Rihanna.
Rocky, who was found not guilty on Tuesday, was twice charged with felony assault involving the 2021 shooting of his former friend, Terell Epheron, formerly ASAP Relli. Rocky’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, claimed that Epheron’s accusations were “nothing more than a money grab.”
The “Tailor Swif” rapper turned down a plea deal of 180 days in jail and was at the risk of a 24-year sentence.
