Touré Calls Out Young Thug Over Alleged Kid Cudi ‘Rat’ Comments
Touré thinks Young Thug needs a better understanding of what a snitch is after the YSL rapper reportedly called Kid Cudi a rat for testifying in Diddy’s trial.
On Friday, Touré paid a visit to TMZ Live, where he opened up about Kid Cudi’s testimony against Diddy and how Thugger seemed to waste no time calling him a rat for taking the stand. The veteran journalist and author said that Cudi did not snitch on Diddy, as he was not involved with any of the mogul’s alleged crimes.
“He is completely misunderstanding what snitching is, what being a rat is,” said Touré. “To be a snitch, which is a huge thing in hip-hop, means we committed a crime together, or at least I am aware of the crime you committed because we are friends, and then I told the state what you did probably because I want to mitigate the problem for me. That’s snitching.”
Touré added that Cudi was not directly involved in Diddy’s alleged crimes — rather, the “Man on the Moon” artist was attacked.
Touré also pushed back on the idea that Cudi somehow violated a “street code” in his dealings with Diddy. Cudi said in his testimony that when he received word Diddy had broken into his house, he called the Bad Boy head immediately.
“[Cudi] doesn’t call the police, he calls Diddy,” said Touré. “He deals directly with Diddy. That’s what the street code would want you to do.”
Young Thug faced racketeering charges, though at the state and not the federal level, in the expansive YSL RICO case. Some fans believed that his co-defendant Gunna snitched by taking an Alford plea deal, which involved him pleading guilty while maintaining his innocence.
Gunna said at the time: “I have not made any statements, have not been interviewed, [and] have not cooperated.”
