Timothée Chalamet Shares His Thoughts on Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s Beef

Timothée Chalamet has chimed in on Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s rap beef.

During a recent sit-down with journalist Judita DaSilva, Chalamet shared his thoughts about who the public supported amid of the highly publicized battle.

“I think we saw, beyond the quality of songs in the battle environment, pop culture at large got behind the Nobel figure and Pulitzer figure,” he said, referring to Lamar.

Just days before the Super Bowl, Lamar linked up with Chalamet in a two-part interview released by the NFL. Hopping into a GNX together, no doubt inspired by the title of Kendrick’s recent album, Chalamet and Lamar discussed all things rapping and acting.

Chalamet informed Lamar about his process to prepare for playing an on-screen role.

“The thing about acting is, if you don’t have an audience, it’s just a form of insanity. And you’re just, what are you doing?” said Chalamet. “So I definitely try to warm up and then, you know, lose that self-consciousness when you finally get back out there. But that takes time.”

The actor also spoke about the importance of embracing failure.

“I always try to embrace failure—you were talking about that the other day—the most important part of a bad day is the way you leave it,” he said. “If you can leave a bad take or a bad day with a positive attitude, then you’ve got nothing to fear.”

Lamar responded to Chalamet’s reveals by expressing the importance of pushing himself as a lyricist.

“I’m always locked in and always trying new things,” Lamar said. “Even if they don’t end up going anywhere.

“I have to keep the pen moving,” he continued. “It’s my form of sanity. And it also has given me the opportunity to learn myself, you know, find out who I am.”

Aside from interviewing each other, Chalamet got the chance to spit “The Heart Pt. II” word for word in front of Lamar.
