Timothée Chalamet Raps “The Heart Pt. II” With Kendrick Lamar While Driving in GNX
In one of the more curious pairings in recent memory, Kendrick Lamar and Timothée Chalamet linked up for an intimate and candid interview ahead of the Compton rapper’s Super Bowl Halftime performance.
In a two-part interview released by the NFL, the actor and rapper drive around in a GNX, the car Lamar named his surprise 2024 album after, as they unpack the parallels between their careers.
In a sweet moment from the second part of their interview, released on Lamar’s pgLang YouTube channel, Chalamet flexes his love for the rapper and spits “The Heart Pt. II” word for word.
“That was one of my favorites, ‘Pt. II’,” Lamar said, to which Chalamet replied, “‘Pt. II’ is like you’re at the Olympics, bro.”
The two begin mimicking the chorus in the song’s intro and start rapping the song together. Lamar’s smile beams as he hears Chalamet go bar-for-bar with him on the second installment of his “Heart” series, which opens his 2010 breakout mixtape Overly Dedicated.
“I love that shit, bro,” Chalamet says.
The actor is still riding the press high of the Bob Dylan biopic he stars in, A Complete Unknown. Chalamet has been spotted in some impressive fits for the film’s press run, and even did double duty of hosting and being the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, where he performed some of Dylan’s songs.
As for Lamar, he’s gearing up to perform at the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 9. While the extent of his performance and the surprises he has in store are unknown, we at Complex gave some predictions which you can read about here.
