The Chainsmokers gathered bright minds to bring their more topical recent single “Sick Boy” to new light. It's a song the duo believes to be one the most important moments their career, so they had to bring something interesting to the table.
The six tracks come from killer up-and-comers in a range flavors. Zaxx opens it up with what starts as an '80s teen dream before diving into a ghoulish electro-bass nightmare, turning the song's monstrous metaphor into a delightful sonic story. Prismo picks up right on that vibe with a synth-heavy, rhythmically driven beat that drops down strong into a filtered breakdown.
Next up is Owen Norton who changes the vibe with a snappy, melodic take with big drums and a future hook. Kuur really shakes things up with a distorted intro into a faded vocal rip that explodes into one the biggest moments on the collection yet. Trobi brings things back down with sped-up piano that leads into a tropical hook, and neutral. finishes the job with shining, stabbing synths and the atmospheric grandeur future-trap.
The ficial “Sick Boy” remix pack is out now on Disruptor/Columbia records. Listen to all six tracks below.
