SZA Says Taylor Swift Is ‘Open’ to Collaborating, Reveals Kendrick Lamar’s Tour Advice

SZA revealed the pre-tour advice that Kendrick Lamar gave her about performing ahead of their Grand National Tour.

The singer appeared on the Jennifer Hudson Show where she opened up about what it’s like to go on tour with Lamar and watch him perform.

“I get to pick different tips and watch how he carries himself, how he emotes,” she said. “There’s something you can’t explain when there’s magic happening and to watch him perform is to witness something magical.”

SZA then gave some insight into some advice that he gave her about performing.

“One time he gave me the pointer of pretending to watch myself from above. He sees himself while he’s performing, and it actually changed a lot for me,” SZA explained.

“It was weird, when I was watching myself from afar, I was like, ‘This not what I want to see, I want to see something different. I want to turn up,’” she added. “Then I just started, like, invoking a completely different energy and spirit within myself.”

Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s Grand National Tour kicks off in Minneapolis on Apr. 19. The stadium tour is set to run until June, when it wraps on the 18th in Washington DC.

Elsewhere in their conversation, SZA revealed that she could collaborate with Taylor Swift in the near future.

“Every time she walks up to me or approaches me, I’m just like, ‘All right, this is happening, because that’s fully Taylor Swift,’” said SZA. “I think I mentioned that I would love to write with her and build some things together. I love her storytelling. She was open to it.”

This isn’t the first time that SZA has big-upped Swift. Back in 2023 when her album SOS and Swift’s Midnights album were competing for a No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200, SZA let the world know that there was no static between them — and that she was a huge fan. “I don’t have beef w ANYONE especially not Taylor lmao I genuinely loved her album and the writing!” wrote SZA.
