South Florida rapper Burgos checks in with pensive “Drop Top”

Ever since the introduction of SoundCloud to the world as hip-hop’s newest discovery tool, South Florida has emerged as emerged as a hotbed for young, energetic talent. Boasting new generation stars like XXXtentacion, Denzel Curry, Kodak Black, YNW Melly and more, the region has become synonymous with producing youthful rappers who are geniuses at showcasing their emotions in their music, and just as clever with keeping them guarded outside of it. Looking to etch his name among the notable ones, rising vocalist Burgos has been actively moving around the underground and building a buzz for himself. Capitalizing on the moment, he unveils his incredibly catch new single, “Drop Top,” and it’s gripping new video.

Produced by VEW, “Drop Top,” is an emotionally engaging record that finds Burgos looking to blow off some steam during an obviously stressful time. “Don’t waste my time, unless we smoking ganja, don’t waste my time unless we’re in the clouds,” croons Burgos, as he sits parked in a Cadillac Seville accompanied by a woman in lingerie and a ski mask. One of the more interesting things about the record is the juxtaposition of what’s going on in the record versus what’s on the screen. Crooning about just wanting to relax, get high and deal with his emotions, most people would think that would often take place at home. Instead, Burgos proves we all deal with our emotions differently, as he showcases that his way comes with women, weed and a beautiful skyline.
