Skinny Pete explores the pains and triumphs of love with debut single “Alone” [Video]

Skinny Pete is the pseudonym used by drummer, songwriter, and producer Peter Johnston. Originally hailing from the Bay Area, he is best known for formally being apart of Still Woozy's electric live touring band. Since 2020, Pete has found time to re-center and focus himself and finally develop his own artist project, which he used as a form of therapy and way to deal with a turbulent relationship and feelings of self doubt. This period of self-reflection & creation has culminated into his upcoming debut project, the Anger Management EP. The artist has decided to release the first single & visual off of the project entitled "Alone".

"Alone" was co-produced by Pete's longtime collaborator and friend Solomonophonic and is a highly infectious indie-pop ballad that sounds deceptively bouncy but chronicles his experiences of an unhealthy relationship. He elaborates, "'Alone' is a song about a girl that I was in love with. She said she was in love with me, but she never picked up the phone…It took me about a year of falling madly in love with this person, and having a very explosive relationship for me to really find the clarity I needed to end the relationship and finish the song."

The Andrew Hawes-directed visual captures the eccentric nature of the song and features Pete performing the single in front of a number of colorful backdrops while a pair of arms proceed to do a dismal job of feeding, cleaning, and grooming him. Check out the visual & single above and be sure to stay peeled on what Skinny Pete has planned next.
