San Quinn, Dela The Fella and DJ True Justice Join Vocab Slick for “1122” Video
Vocab Slick connects with San Quinn, Dela The Fella, and DJ True Justice in the new video for “1122,” a bass-fueled banger that serves as a celebration of each emcee’s respective stomping grounds (Santa Rosa and the Bay Area).
You can credit the track’s distinctive bounce to co-producers Killa Trax & Starski, whose pulsing production is the perfect backdrop for the wordplay-heavy verses from all three emcees. And it’s actually their bars that help to drive both the pacing and cleverness of these visuals, which features direction by Templito Brand and edits/visual effects by YS GFX.
For every dope rhyme or musical element you hear, there’s almost certainly an equally ill effect to complement it. Like the way the visuals split and get colorful when Vocab spits “Chest like a teflon vest so I can deflect/ Any objects thrown by the devil’s rejects,” or how trippy everything gets when DJ True Justice shows off his skills on the hook.
The track itself stems from Vocab Slick’s excellent 2021 album, Language, and its title is reference to his area code (707) and San Quinn’s (415) — add them up and you get 1122. It’s a fitting homage in name and sound, and it’s a firm reminder that Language is one of the better releases of the past few years.
