Sabrina Carpenter May Have Unknowingly Played a Part in New York Mayor Eric Adams’ Indictment
Sabrina Carpenter may have unknowingly played a part in the investigation that led to New York Mayor Eric Adams’ indictment.
Last year, the singer released a racy video for the song “Feather” that took place at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Annunciation Parish in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Because of just how wild the video was, featuring men killing themselves over her and some scantily clad dancing at an altar, the parish’s pastor, Monsignor Jamie J. Gigantiello, was stripped of his administrative duties overseeing the church.
Last week, a subpoena about the business dealings between Gigantiello and Mayor Adams’ ex-chief of staff Fran Carone — who are long-term friends — was revealed.
When the New York Post asked Brooklyn diocese officials about the federal investigation, their response made many people think that they were alluding to Carpenter’s video as being a reason for the federal probe.
“The Diocese is fully committed to cooperating with law enforcement in all investigations, including conduct at individual parishes or involving any priest,” they said.
Last year, Carpenter filming “Feather” at the church led to a massive uproar that led to Brooklyn Bishop Robert Brennan re-consecrating the church. At the time that it happened, Gigantiello’s tenure as the Diocese’s vicar for development, a title he held for 15 years, was stripped from him.
In a letter to parishioners, Gigantiello pleaded for forgiveness so people would “forgive my oversight in his unfortunate matter.”
He claimed in the letter that he was informed that the video would be “filmed outside” of the actual church. Gigantiello claimed that he and his team weren’t “aware that anything provocative was occurring in the church, nor were we aware that faux coffins and other funeral items would be placed in the sanctuary.”
“While I take full responsibility for the erroneous decision to allow the filming, I want to assure you that I had no knowledge that such a scene would be filmed in our church which we worked so hard to restore to its present sacred beauty,” he added.
