Emerging UK R&B artist, songwriter/producer Rufus shares his debut single "One Eye Open" and its accompanying video. The alternative R&B/pop infused track sees him working alongside producers TheElements, and it is rich with a memorable texture and bounce while Rufus drops catchy melodies from start to finish. Inspired by true events, the singer recounts a situation where people he thought were his friends did him wrong and now he is more guarded than ever. The track implores listeners to stay on their grind and keep their eye on the goals regardless of the negative vibes that they may encounter.
For the accompanying visuals, Rufus links with Italian filmmaker Ivano Barcellona to unlock another element of the single by offering up an interesting dichotomy we all face of becoming the machine version of ourselves that gets the job done with precision versus being the mere mortal version that makes mistakes and is not always disciplined. It's quite cinematic and makes use of dark aesthetics to match Rufus's laidback demeanor and mood.
Rufus hails from a small Wiltshire village in the southwest of England and started his career writing and performing his own songs at local venues as a teenager and producing songs for his peers. He is presently working on his debut EP with producers Remedee (AJ Tracey, Unknown T, Not3s), Kxlla K (Lethal Bizzle, Sneakbo) among others. "One Eye Open" is the first single from Rufus’ upcoming debut EP, which is set for release in the autumn.
