unnamed-4-500x500 Rubi Rose lets us know she's "Wifey" in new single and video

Born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, Rubi Rose has gone from video vixen to one of rap’s leading ladies. After a breakthrough appearance in Migos’ “Bad and Boujee” music video, the Georgia State University-educated, multilingual rapper of Eritrean descent, Rubi Rose cemented her career in music.

Fresh off joining Summer Walker on her multi-city tour, Rubi Rose has just shared her new single & video for “Wifey”. Over a knocking instrumental sampling N.E.R.D.’s iconic track “Lapdance”, Rubi Rose provides the quintessential soundtrack for the rapidly-approaching hot girl summer. The song is about Rubi taking hold of the narrative from her detractors and simply stating, “Rubi a hoe? That’s cap, I’m wifey.” Rubi brings along a conglomerate of vixens for the seductive visual, bouncing between a steamy car wash and being laid up in a bed of cash sporting a lacy and racy outfit. “Wifey” combines all the elements of Rubi’s sound that separates her from the pack: her signature confidence, even-keeled flow, & women-centric, empowering lyrics.

In 2021, Rubi Rose was named to XXL’s Freshman Class, accented by her standout Freshman Cypher which received widespread praise from fans and critics. With tight-knit choreography and an engaging on-state presence, Rubi turned serious heads during her Rolling Loud set in July 2021––a testament to her knack for live performance. Rubi spent the latter half of 2021 teaming up with Rod Wave on his multi-city headlining tour which provided her a first-hand opportunity to flex her star power. Earlier in 2022, she released a new single “I Like”  and accompanied Summer Walker on her headlining, multi-city tour. This summer, she will be a special guest on Wiz Khalifa & Logic’s headlining Vinyl Verse tour for select dates. Rubi has been working on crafting new music and solidifying her place as a rising star who’s riding a wave of momentum all the way through 2022.
