Royce Da 5’9" Plays Pastor With Benny The Butcher for Blunt ‘Upside Down’ Premiere

On Friday (Feb. 7), Royce Da 5'9" let go of another fiery single from his 22-track The Allegory album with "Upside Down," which also features assists from Benny The Butcher and Ashley Sorrell. An accompanying Cricket-directed visual to the lyrical tune arrives  Billboard premiere below.

Royce steps into a local church and takes over pastor duties to spit his candid sermon about his issues with society's ills. While he's going around tithing his people, Benny takes the baton from the second row to get a few things off his chest about his come up. The clip comes to an abrupt end with a part two expected to be on the horizon.

The 42-year-old made sure to have a record sparring with one of rap's up-and-coming lyrical assassins. "I always like to shine a light on things that I see happening within our culture but this particular song was a chance for me to just spilt some crazy shit next to my man Benny who represents a new generation of spitters," Royce tells Billboard

The spirited "Upside Down" serves as the fourth single from the album following "I Don't Age." It may be abrasive, but the Detroit native believes he's exposing the ugly truths of the world with his next effort. "I think if you're going to have a whole bunch of music that's going to serve as that getaway then you gotta have that balance, you gotta have that one album that's going to push the mirror in front of the truth and make you look at it just for a second," Royce concluded back in January.
