Rick Ross Says He Only Gets Involved in Rap Beef If There’s ‘Something to Gain’

In a live interview with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson for their Nightcap podcast, Rick Ross was asked about getting involved in rap beef earlier this year.

“I thought all y’all was cool?” Sharpe asked Ross around the 6-minute mark of the interview, as seen above, referring to him taking shots at his former collaborator Drake. “I’mma be honest on some rap shit, it was no conspiracies,” replied Rozay. “Rozay name was said, I’mma jump off the porch, that’s what I do. … I’mma jump off the porch and I’m going to have some fun. That’s what I did, I had some fun.”

“I just feel like, it’s a lot of dope shit being made,” he continued. “I ain’t talking on no controversy type shit, I’m just talking music.”

At a later point during the chat, Sharpe asked Ross how he decides if and when to respond to any potential disses thrown his way. “Is it something to gain for you?” he replied. “Somebody wake up and hate on Shay Shay, hate on Ocho, I mean… Let’s sit back. Because not responding is a response when you a boss.”

Earlier this year, Rick Ross inserted himself into the beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar with his track “Champagne Moments,” a response to a leak of Drizzy’s response to K Dot’s seismic verse on “Like That.” Ever since he’s been playfully trolling Drizzy on social media, but it’s far from his first rodeo when it comes to rap beef.
