R. Kelly Cried on Prison Phone Call ‘In Fear for His Life,’ Lawyers Say

R. Kelly is again begging to be released from prison amid alleged threats on his life.

According to a TMZ report published on Wednesday (June 18), the R&B singer was begging his legal team to help him. His lawyers said that Kelly cried on one phone call.

Kelly and his lawyers have accused a staff member of a solitary confinement area of a North Carolina prison of administering the singer a potentially lethal amount of medication.

The incident led to Kelly being taken to a local hospital, where he remained for two days before returning to the institution. It has also been alleged that the “Ignition” artist was refused a procedure to alleviate his blood clots.

“Whether you like R. Kelly or not, what’s right is right and what’s wrong is wrong—he’s a human being who needs medical attention immediately,” Kelly’s attorney, Nicole Becker, told TMZ.

As of Thursday, Kelly was in the Special Housing Unit of the North Carolina prison and continued to worry about his health and welfare.

“He’s emotional, and he cried intermittently on the phone call,” Becker said. “Again, out of fear for his life.”

Earlier this month, the legal team sought the aid of President Donald Trump, claiming that the 58-year-old was being threatened by federal authorities with the help of a white supremacist inmate.

Due to his removal from the hospital and ongoing prison concerns, another one of Kelly’s attorneys, Beau Brindley, claimed his client was “suffering.”

“He’s still not getting his blood thinners. He’s receiving no treatment for blood clots whatsoever despite being diagnosed in the hospital,” Brindley said.

The singer is serving a 30-year sentence for sex crimes and racketeering.
