Proof’s Son Nasaan Apologizes for Cordae Diss and Reveals He Has No Relationship With Eminem
Proof’s son, Nasaan, has issued an apology to Cordae for trolling him — and revealed that he doesn’t have a close relationship with Eminem.
Back in 2020, Nasaan released a “Without Me” freestyle, paying homage to Em’s popular song from 2002. On the track, he raps, “My shape isn’t in tip top? Then who saving hip hop? (YBN Cordae?)/Bitch you sound stupid as fuck’ as a diss towards Cordae.”
In a new series of posts via X on Friday, Nasaan not only apologized for dissing Cordae — but also opened up about being jealous of the From a Bird’s Eye View rapper and Eminem’s relationship.
“I apologize to the Cordae fellow,” he wrote in the first of a series of tweets in which he explained his side of the story. “I’m growing & realize I started trolling you out of envy. Was gonna put all this in a song but rhyming shit with yo name is difficult n***a.”
Nasaan then got real about why he dissed him, explaining that he was “jealous” of Cordae. “He was getting the love from Marshall that i had always wanted but unfortunately just never got,” admitted Nasaan. “I felt like I was a way more talented rapper sitting in front of his face, yet he chose him to champion.”
Cordae has undoubtedly received musical support from Eminem, as the Detroit rap legend has appeared on a several songs with the Baltimore native, including the “Parables (Remix),” an updated take of Eminem’s “Killer” featuring Jack Harlow, and “Doomsday” with the late Juice WRLD.
Regarding Eminem’s relationship with Nasaan’s late father, Proof, the two grew up together in Detroit. Proof was not only a member of D12 but also Eminem’s hype man. Nasaan explained in his posts that he wanted a close relationship with Em like his father had.
“Since a teenager I kind of just wanted to make Em & his team proud & build this uncle like bond with them where I can, come around, ask for advice, where need be and it just never got to that point,” explained Nasaan. “In retrospect, I guess that frustrated me and made me jealous.”
After reiterating his apology, Nasaan clarified his lack of closeness with Eminem. “Yes there is no relationship,” he said about he relationship with the legendary rapper. “I have none with him. But who cares he doesn’t owe me that. He was my father’s friend not MINE.” He took care of my family financially for years!!! Off GP. He’s great in my book! I’m 26 now. I accepted I’ll never get the relationship I wanted with him..”
Earlier this year, Nasaan released his ERROR 404 project and it included the self-directed video for “GOATED” with Royce Da 5’9. In it, Nasaan pays tribute to his late father Proof by recreating his 1999 MTV News freestyle clip.
