Pink Updates Fans After Contracting E. Coli: ‘Everything Is Going Really Well’

Pink has shared an update about her health after she contracted E. coli while on vacation, telling fans that she’s doing just fine.

On Saturday (Aug. 30), the “Raise Your Glass” singer posted a photograph on Instagram that showed her enjoying a glass of wine with friends.

“When you go on vacation and have food and E. coli decides to move into your gut you kill it with friends and daughters and red wine,” she wrote on the picture, adding, “and a vitamin IV concoction.”

Pink, evidently unfazed by the illness, chose to look at the experience from the perspective of someone drinking from a glass half full. “Ahhh life and lemons and lemonade and great memories that I might remember,” she captioned the post.

E. coli (escherichia coli) is a type of bacteria that lives in the gut and is usually harmless, according to Health Direct. Some strains of E. coli bacteria are harmful, however, and can cause bacterial diarrhea and serious illness.

Last year, at least 75 people reportedly became ill from E. coli after eating at McDonald’s restaurants throughout the United States. Over 20 people were hospitalized, and one person died from the deadly strain.

Public health officials spoke with 42 people who contracted the illness, and all of them said they had eaten at McDonald’s before becoming ill. Most had “specifically mentioned eating a quarter pounder hamburger,” a statement from the CDC said.

Two of the people who became sick have a kidney condition called hemolytic uremic syndrome, which can result in permanent kidney failure or can be fatal.
