Papa Roach Lands Two Mainstream Rock Songs No. 1s From the Same Album for the First Time

“Born for Greatness” follows “Help,” from 2017’s “Crooked Teeth.”

For the first time, Papa Roach has earned two Mainstream Rock Songs No. 1s from one album.

“Born for Greatness,” the third single from the veteran rockers' 2017 set Crooked Teeth, rises 3-1 on the chart dated Feb. 10, becoming the band's fourth No. 1. It's the second to top the airplay chart from Teeth, following the six-week reign “Help” beginning in April 2017.

Although Papa Roach had notched two Mainstream Rock Songs No. 1s prior to Teeth, neither came from the same album. “Lifeline,” from Metamorphosis, ruled for six weeks in 2009, while “Face Everything and Rise,” from F.E.A.R., led for a week in 2015.

Previously, “Greatness” had become Papa Roach's 18th Mainstream Rock Songs top 10, dating to its first entry, “Last Resort,” which peaked at No. 4 in September 2000. The band ranks in a seventh-place tie (with Five Finger Death Punch) for the most top 10s on the chart since 2000; Shinedown leads with 22 this century.

On the Rock Airplay chart, which ranks songs based on audience impressions across all three rock radio formats (mainstream rock, alternative and adult alternative), “Greatness” gains 18-17 with 3.8 million audience impressions (up 14 percent), according to Nielsen Music. The track also rises 34-28 on Hot Rock Songs, which blends radio airplay, U.S. streams and download sales data, after reaching No. 26.
