Neak, Rashid Hadee and F.A.B.L.E. bring out the “Guns N’ Roses” [Video]
Neak, Rashid Hadee (of Chapter 13 fame), and F.A.B.L.E. team up for a rousing socio-political bop titled “Guns N’ Roses.” Bolstered by Chicago-based rapper/producer Neak’s driving production that blends rumbling basslines, electric guitars, and thumping drums, the trio proceed to deliberate on the systemic discrimination and inequality plaguing the United States since its inception.
Throughout the track, Neak sets it off with his laidback flow and goes against the grain with lines like “Record deals seeming like blood on the leaves, nigga please/Keep the slave chains, find the keys” while Hadee gives an example of what Black excellence means to him. F.A.B.L.E. ties it all up with his rousing, spoken word type chorus that aims to wake up our inner spirits to take hold of our destinies.
The visual is cinematic and somewhat riveting thanks to director Irv Vaz’s noir textures and quick cuts. He makes use of performance shots, silhouette effects, and choreography to reflect the emotional dynamics of the black experience throughout inner-city America.
“Guns N’ Roses” is taken from Deli Slice, a compilation project by Gold Standard Collective.
