Naomi Osaka Announces Breakup With Cordae: ‘No Bad Blood’
Cordae and Naomi Osaka have called it quits.
To start the year on a clean slate, on Monday (Jan. 6), Osaka posted an Instagram Story with an iPhone note about how she and the Raleigh, North Carolina rapper are no longer together.
“Hi everyone, just wanted to say that Cordae and I are no longer in a relationship,” the professional tennis player began. “No bad blood at all, he’s a great person and an awesome dad.”
“Honestly really glad out paths crossed because my daughter is my biggest blessing and I was able to grow a lot from our experiences together.”
Cordae and Osaka reportedly began dating in April 2019, roughly four years before the birth of their now-18-month-old daughter, Shai.
Two months before sharing her post-birth weight journey, Osaka called childbirth “traumatic” on TikTok, revealing that she doesn’t foresee having “many more” children.
Along with parenthood being a “blessing” to Osaka, Cordae shared on 105.1’s The Breakfast Club last month that being a first-time father has kept him on a tight recording schedule and more strict about “time management.”
“It just really has me focused on time management versus before,” he said around the 6:30-minute mark of the video below. “As an artist, you’ll be in the studio from like 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. one day, then the next day it might be from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., so you’re kind of all over the place.”
