Morgan Wallen Reportedly Refused to Do an ‘SNL’ Sketch Before Unexpected Exit From Show

Singer Morgan Wallen reportedly refused to do a Saturday Night Live sketch at the last second, prompting the show’s staff to get another singer to step in.

Page Six reportedly spoke with an insider about Wallen’s seemingly cold appearance on the show. When he broke the long-standing tradition of hanging out on stage with the rest of the cast during the ending credits, it went viral for people thinking he was being a jerk. Now, an insider has revealed alleged details of how his appearance on the show actually went down.

One major issue happened when he reportedly decided not to appear in an SNL sketch that was pre-recorded. Since Wallen allegedly didn’t want to do it, they had to get Joe Jonas to appear instead. “They had hoped he would do the pre-tape and perhaps more, but no joy,” Page Six’s source claimed.

Wallen reportedly “did what he was asked” by being the musical guest, but that was all that he did.

About his viral exit mid-credits, that wasn’t Wallen’s first time leaving right after a performance at SNL. “He did the same thing for dress [rehearsal], i.e. walking off; he was done,” the source claimed.

Days after his mid-credits exit, a source revealed to TMZ that Wallen didn’t mean to offend anyone by leaving quickly and had “entered and exited the studio the same way … during rehearsal and camera blocking all week leading up to the live show.”

NBC sources have confirmed that they aren’t angry with him and that Wallen would be welcomed back to SNL in the future to be a musical guest.

This comes after Kenan Thompson, SNL‘s longest-tenured comedian, commented on Morgan Wallen’s abrupt departure from the show this past weekend. Thompson joked that Wallen “had to go to the potty” when asked about the singer’s unexpected SNL exit as the credits rolled for at-home viewers.
