Metro Boomin’s Civil Rape Trial Set to Begin in September After Failing to Settle
Metro Boomin’s is set to go on trial over a rape lawsuit.
The trial, which will begin on September 23, 2025, comes after “unsuccessful” settlement talks with Vanessa LeMaistre, who alleges the producer assaulted and impregnated her in 2016, according to Billboard.
LeMaistre’s 2024 lawsuit claims she blacked out after taking Xanax and drinking alcohol in Metro’s studio during a recording session, later waking up in a different location to find the producer sexually assaulting her while she was “completely unable to move or make a sound.”
Metro, born Leland Wayne, denied the allegations and his lawyers have called the case a “pure shakedown.”
Court filings reviewed by Billboard from August 11 state that the two sides attempted mediation in July with a retired judge but “continued limited settlement discussions, which have proven unsuccessful.”
LeMaistre says she met Metro in Las Vegas that year, bonded over music after telling him about her 9-month-old son’s death, and later visited his California studio, where the alleged assault occurred. She claims she became pregnant, had an abortion, and that the attack is alluded to in his 2017 song “Rap Saved Me” performed by Offset, 21 Savage, and Quavo.
An excerpt of the lyrics read, “She took a Xanny, then she fainted / I’m from the gutter, ain’t co hanging / From the gutter, rap saved me / She drive me crazy, have my baby.”
Metro denied writing those lyrics and maintains the encounter was consensual. He accused LeMaistre of fabricating her claims while under the influence of ayahuasca years later.
“These are false accusations,” said Metro’s lawyer Lawrence Hinkle after the lawsuit was filed in October 2024. “Mr. Wayne refused to pay her months ago, and he refuses to pay her now. Mr. Wayne will defend himself in court. He will file a claim for malicious prosecution once he prevails.”
LeMaistre’s attorney, Michael Willemin, said on Tuesday (Aug. 12) that Metro “has failed to comply with basic discovery obligations” but that we and Ms. LeMaistre have pushed the case forward aggressively, and, because of that, we are headed towards trial on September 23, 2025. We look forward to holding Mr. Wayne accountable in front of a jury of his peers.”
