Meek Mill Says Teacher Made Him Write ‘I Have High Self-Esteem’ 100 Times: ‘She Programmed Me’

Meek Mill credits a teacher with helping him cultivate confidence earlier in life that he says is still going strong to this day.

In a tweet, Meek, whose Heathenism EP arrived earlier this year, looked back on an unnamed teacher he says made him write the phrase “I have high self-esteem” on the chalkboard “100 times.” This had a significant impact, per Meek.

“She programmed me,” he said when thanking the teacher in a tweet. These days, Meek added, this same sense of self-esteem is visible “in any room.” Furthermore, per the two-time Grammy nominee, this allows him to “be chilling so hard” in whatever situation he may find himself in.

It’s not clear what prompted Meek to share this particular memory. He followed it up with a series of tweets reflecting on past legal issues and calling into question the consistency of the U.S. justice system.

In June, Meek joined New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy to commemorate a new clemency plan in the state.

“I know personally the life-changing impact that clemency can have,” Meek said in a press release at the time. “Today’s announcement means that many more people will have an opportunity to reunite with their families, get back on their feet, and chase their dreams.”

More recently, Meek made headlines for remarks he made on social media about Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Amid pushback for his comments, Meek issued a clarification, stating that he wasn’t intending to signal his endorsement of either candidate.
