Mary J. Blige Says She ‘Fired Someone’ Over Tour Setlist Leak
Mary J. Blige revealed that she “fired” one of her team members after her upcoming tour setlist was leaked online.
The singer spoke with People about her upcoming film Mary J. Blige’s Family Affair. She also said that she parted ways with the team member after a portion of the setlist of her tour, For My Fans, leaked online.
“Yeah, I was pissed, and I fired someone because of it,” she said.
“We worked too hard and the setlist is the most private thing,” she says. “It was unprofessional. Obviously it was somebody within the camp, and they risked their whole life just to get a couple of likes.”
Luckily, the leak didn’t reveal Blige’s entire setlist. The singer teased that there’s more coming that fans will be surprised to see.
“Only a little bit got leaked, and that’s not even half,” she said. “People don’t even know what else is coming.”
Blige had previously addressed the tour setlist leak in an Instagram story post on Jan. 18.
“This kinda hurts and it’s sad to see this leaked,” Blige wrote at the time. “I wanted to surprise my fans with something special. But this doesn’t even scratch the surface of what I have planned.”
Blige’s For My Fans Tour kicks off in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Jan. 30. The 36-city tour will wrap up in Philadelphia on April 17.
Blige won’t be alone: She’s also bringing Ne-Yo and Mario along for the journey. The R&B legend told People about why she chose the two veterans to join her on the road.
“I love Ne-Yo and Mario and I think those two guys have some of the best love songs of their generation,” Blige said. “Last time, I had Queen Naija and Ella Mai [on the Good Morning Gorgeous Tour]. I love me some Ella Mai, and I love Queen. This time I said, ‘We really need the women to be serenaded this time.’ We really need the women to feel special, and it’s time for women to feel special.”
