Marlon Wayans Responds to Boosie Condemning Daughter’s Sexuality: ‘Give Their Family Grace and Time’

Marlon Wayans wants people to take a more cautious approach toward Boosie Badazz after the rapper’s recent remarks about his daughter’s sexuality.

In a recent live taping of Yung Miami’s Revolt show Caresha Please at Revolt World 2024, the Baton Rouge emcee said his daughter, Iviona Hatch, is not allowed to bring her girlfriend to their home.

“She still can’t bring her situation to our house. My daughter is grown—Because I don’t want it to contaminate her others [siblings],” he said. “It’s a generation we’re raising, and I don’t want her to get too contaminated for her other six or seven sisters who look up to her. I want them to bring me grandchildren…”

The audience groaned in response. Boosie doubled down, saying, “If I don’t want my other little girl to look at daddy and say, ‘What’s that daddy?’ to somebody she looks up to? It’s not gonna come around. My grandfather didn’t let it, my daddy didn’t let it, and I didn’t let it.”

Comedian Marlon Wayans knows all too well about parenting an LGBTQ+ child. His son, Kai, is transgender, and Wayans has been very open about the process of learning and accepting this new chapter in his life.

Wayans took to X to provide a different perspective on Boosie’s comments, arguing that the rapper needs “time and grace” to come around.

“U can’t paint @BOOSIEOFFICIAL as a monster. That man is father that provides. I believe him, his daughter and God will figure this out.” Wayans wrote, adding that it also took him “a second” to understand his son.

“Give their family grace and time. This is growing pain. She know her daddy loves her. That’s all that matters. He may come around he may not. But that’s on him and her,” he continues.

Another user pointed out that while Wayans had to take some time to understand his child, he never talked about “contamination.” The comedian agreed, but said he still wants to “hold space” for the more extreme side of Boosie’s reaction.

Hatch, who also goes by Poison Ivi, responded to her father in a clip posted on Friday, Sept. 27. “If you know me, I love and respect my siblings with everything in me. And they respect me and love me with everything in them,” she said.

The 22-year-old also alleged that Boosie called her a “gay b-word” when she came out to him. “So if the world really knew the hurtful things you told me before and I forgave you, you wouldn’t even understand,” she said.

Wayans had a slightly different tone toward Elon Musk after catching wind of the X owner disowning his transgender daughter. In his latest Club Shay Shay appearance, the father of two said, “I have a Tesla that I’m about to drive over a cliff cause I don’t like what he be saying about his trans child that make me mad. You know you don’t treat them babies like that. You don’t disown your babies.”

As for Boosie, his history of homophobia is long. In 2021, the “Wipe Me Down” rapper made headlines after calling Lil Nas X slurs and urging him to take his life. In an attempt to say he wasn’t actually homophobic, he revealed his tour manager was gay.
