Mamii shares nostalgic visuals for her song “Creepiin” [Video]
Hammond, Indiana-based singer and producer Mamii shares the visuals for her song “Creepiin,” a funky R&B track that dwells on taking action on a cheating partner. Mamii’s vocals have a unique flair to them and the infusion of hip-hop into her sound gives her an edgy element. The track embodies the vengeful spirit of a woman scorned on the track and proceeds to lay down the law on the unfaithful significant other. The production here harks back to the ’90s with a multi-layered soulful vibe bolstered by punchy drums and West Coast-type basslines that trigger nostalgia in many ways.
The video is quite a trip-back memory lane with its ’90s/’00s aesthetic. We see Mamii taking cues from acts like Aaliyah, Mary J Blige, Missy Elliot et al to create a dazzling visual collage that showcases her musical influences and then some. From the cut scenes, set-pieces, and visual effects like the infamous fish eye and transparent lens, Mamii delivers a brilliant visual that will keep viewers locked in from start to finish.
Mamii grew up singing and playing instruments in church and at home, and these experiences gave her the right tools as an all-around musician. She is able to experiment with different genres and styles. “Creepiin” is taken from her latest EP Black Phoeniix. Get it on Apple Music// Spotify
