LL Cool J Comes to Joe Budden’s Defense After Yung Miami Roasts “Pump It Up” Gold Plaque

LL Cool J recently responded to Yung Miami roasting Joe Budden after the rapper and media personality received a gold plaque for his 2003 single “Pump It Up.”

In a brief interview with TMZ, the rapper and actor was asked about Miami’s recent comments about the plaque, which LL Cool J hand-delivered to Budden on a recent episode of his podcast.

“I mean, what can you say?” he replied. “Some people never go gold!”

The interviewer suggested it was still an achievement, despite taking twenty years to reach the milestone.

“Of course it is,” he said. “It doesn’t matter, you have artists that don’t go do diamond ’til posthumously. I mean, it’s life. But it’s beautiful for him, [I’m] happy for Joe.”

Budden and Miami have been at odds ever since the former blasted City Girls’ last album, Real Ass Whores. The situation flared up recently after LL Cool J delivered the “Pump It Up” gold plaque to Budden, with Miami retweeting a video of the moment with laughing emojis.

“It would be too easy,” Budden replied.

“Another one bites the dust remember?” she tweeted back. “You was just celebrating when you THOUGHT I took an L. I can laugh YOU was just laughing at me so LETS LAUGH!”

Budden later shared a full response in an episode of his eponymous podcast.

“While I’m happy Caresha is able to laugh because she’s had a stressful year, I am a little surprised she has found enough time to laugh at anything,” he said. “I want to keep this professional and on the music. If Complex were to do a list where all the female rappers ranked, Caresha, you would be last on the list. You would be drop dead last on that list. Every female out there is wiping you down right now….Caresha was the very last person I expected to do this.”
