Liam Payne Criticized for Telling GF Kate Cassidy She’s ‘Nice and Covered Up for Once’
Liam Payne could be in the dog house for making a perceived shady comment towards his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, in a recent TikTok.
In a couples fit check posted on Tuesday (Aug. 13), Payne and Cassidy were getting ready for a sushi night out with friends while giving the details of their respective attire. Cassidy, who wore a matching black Lovers + Friends set from REVOLVE continued to display the rest of her look, which included a red Chanel bag.
But the outfit caught a stray from Payne, who said, “You look good. Nice and covered up, for once,” while Cassidy laughed.
But while the former One Direction member was possibly joking with Cassidy, whom he’s dated on-and-off since 2022, the comment offended some viewers, who took to the comment section to accuse Payne of misogyny.
“They could never make me like you Liam Payne 🙏🏻,” wrote one person, while another wrote, “Girl blink twice if you’re in danger.”
But Cassidy will likely be with Payne for the long haul, confessing in a 2023 TikTok that she “manifested” a relationship with the pop singer ten years before by drawing him on a popsicle stick.
“Careful what you wish for,” she joked at the end of the clip.
In an update on TMZ, Cassidy defends her boyfriend, saying she told him to comment on her outfit. “I actually said to him while we were filming the video, ‘Oh, you should make a comment about how I am dressed up for once.’ If you look at my Instagram, honestly, I normally don’t cover up too much. I’m 25, I kind of just wear what I want. He doesn’t care at all what I wear.”
