With a textured instrumental from producers TNT, Tago, and Tre Gilliam, complete with wailing guitar, percolating organ, and mournful trumpet, “Cuban Links” is a bittersweet anthem for those who came from nothing to become something. The song features a spirited guest verse from Kevin Gates, who echoes Rod’s fear of fickle friends turning their backs on him. In the lo-fi, but luxurious video, Rod and Kevin kick it at an ornate L.A. mansion, harmonizing on marble staircases and chilling by the indoor pool. “Cuban Links” follows Rod’s recent video for “Heart On Ice (Remix)” featuring Lil Durk, which has over 1.7 million views on YouTube in less than two weeks of release.
Rod Wave recently wrapped up the “Heart On Ice Tour,” which toured several cities around Florida and Georgia before bouncing to the West Coast in August. The St. Petersburg, Florida native is currently preparing to support Kevin Gates on the nationwide “I’m Him Tour,” launching October 12th in Chicago. Also featuring support from YK Osiris and SDot Fresh, the 33-date nationwide tour makes stops in New York on October 23rd (Terminal 5) and in Los Angeles on November 27th (The Novo)..
