Kelly Clarkson’s Ex-Husband, Brandon Blackstock, Dead at 48
Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband and former manager, has died. He was 48.
Blackstock’s family confirmed the death in a statement to People on Thursday, more than three years after the talent manager and TV producer was diagnosed with cancer.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years,” the statement read. “He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”
The news came just a day after Clarkson announced she was postponing her Las Vegas residency because of her ex-husband’s health issues.
“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” she wrote on social media. “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows, and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”
Clarkson and Blackstock tied the knot in 2013 and went on to welcome two children together: an 11-year-old daughter, River, and a 9-year-old son, Remington. The ex-couple split in 2020 and finalized their divorce roughly two years later.
Blackstock was the son of Clarkson’s previous manager, Narvel Blackstock, the CEO of Nashville-based management firm Starstruck. Brandon Blackstock is also survived by his adult children, Seth Blackson and Savannah Blackstock, whom he shares with his ex-wife Melissa Ashworth.
According to IMDb, Blackstock had producer credits on The Kelly Clarkson Show and the 2010 TV special Blake Shelton Live: It’s All About Tonight.
